As I have alluded to in some of my previous posts, I’m a total natural makeup and skincare junkie, and I LOVE trying out new products. So when one of my favourite all natural makeup and skincare companies, 100% Pure, suggested that I try out a few of their products and review them for the blog, I couldn’t say no!
First – a quick note. As I start to add more product reviews on here, I feel like it’s important to let you guys know that every product I post about I love, use regularly and 100% stand behind. Transparency is really important to me and I would never promote a product or item that doesn’t align with my values (or that doesn’t actually work)!
Now on to the good stuff – is incredible. I have been a big fan of this brand for a while now. Up until recently I had only used their cosmetics, but so far everything I’ve tried is super gentle on my skin, performs incredibly and has an impressively all-natural ingredients list. Of course, the fact that 100% Pure are an entirely vegan brand (no animal ingredients or testing) is a really big plus for me!
About the Brand
100% Pure is a vegan, organic and all natural skin care and cosmetics brand based out of California. They offer a pretty wide range of healthy skin care, natural makeup, and bath and body products that are completely free of all harmful toxins, including artificial colours, artificial fragrances and synthetic chemical preservatives. They pledge that “every ingredient begins in its natural state and is selected to nourish your skin.”
Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
I have yet to find an eye cream that works really well for me. Genetics has blessed me with some serious dark circles under my eyes, and as I approach 30 I’ve have a rapidly increasing number of fine lines and increased puffiness around my eyes that I do. not. love. Let’s just say that I need all the help I can get in de-bagging my eye area. I’ve tried lots of run of the mill products, but have had a hard time finding anything that seemed worthwhile.
100% Pure’s Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream is touted as an anti-inflammatory, caffeine rich green tea and coffee eye cream that de-puffs while increasing circulation to brighten dark circles. It is concentrated with “potent anti-aging vitamins, antioxidants, and nourishing rosehip oil” to make your eye area look more awake and more youthful. This is one of 100% pure’s best sellers, and they have completed some clinical studies which say that with continued use, this eye cream reduces puffiness and dark circles, as well as reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
I’ll be honest… I have been using this product for less than a month. While I haven’t noticed much of a difference to my dark circles, this eye cream has made the skin around my eye area so soft and smooth. It absorbs well and doesn’t feel greasy or sticky. It also is so soothing, and I have found that my eye area feels quite refreshed after I use it. I have also definitely noticed a reduction in the file lines since I started using this product, though it might be that this can be attributed to the fact that my eye area is so much more well moisturized.
Maracuja Mascara in Black Tea
I am super picky about my mascara. My lashes are medium-long, but they aren’t particularly thick, so one bad product and I look like I have four little twigs sticking up above my eye. When I was in high school, I used to solve this problem by combing through my lashes with a safety pin. I know what you’re thinking. Yes, I did poke myself in the eye and no, I have never done it again since! Instead, my more recent solution (and I far less dangerous one, might I add) has been to stick with a quality mascara that doesn’t clump up.
This is totally rad. This is actually the first 100% Pure product I ever tried (way before this review was in the works). I knew that this was a pretty popular product, so I figured that I would order it and give it a shot. It was love at first flutter. 100% Pure’s Maracuja Mascara is all-natural and gives your lashes great volume while holding their curl. It doesn’t clump, it doesn’t flake during the day, and the Maracuja oil, pro-vitamin B5 and other conditioners help to make your lashes nice and healthy. The colour comes from black tea leaves, berry and cocoa pigments (which I think is super cool) AND it’s water and smudge resistant. If you want a lengthening mascara that separates your lashes for a pretty, natural, everyday look then this is definitely the one for you.
Fruit Pigmented Pomegranate Oil Lipstick
A good lipstick can be a girl’s best friend. It is such an easy way to feel like you’re a little more dressed up or put together, and throwing on a vivid lip colour can change your look instantly. Like with my mascara, I am really particular when it comes to my lipstick. I like a product that is super moisturizing, but doesn’t wear off easily. Something that is really packed with pigment, but doesn’t look chalky or fake. Most importantly, I want something that isn’t made of scary ingredients. I mean seriously – when your lipstick disappears throughout the day it is usually because you are EATING IT. Eww. My new mantra is unless it’s made of food-grade products, I don’t want it decorating my lips.
100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Pomegranate Oil Lipstick totally fits the bill. It is a super moisturizing lipstick that is concentrated with pomegranate oil and shea butter, so it feels incredible on your lips and doesn’t dry out at all. It is coloured entirely out of fruit pigments and doesn’t contain any synthetic chemicals, synthetic dyes, chemical preservatives or any other toxins. I ordered a pretty pink shade (Magnolia), but there are a tons of shades – from neutrals to a classic red to this amazing orange called Hibiscus (which tbh may be included in my next order). The only thing that I didn’t like about this lipstick was that it isn’t particularly long lasting. For someone like me who is usually to rushed to stop and think about re-applying, this is a bit of a bummer. Overall, though, I would totally re-purchase this because the texture and colour are so nice.
Here’s a quick swatch of the Magnolia colour that I chose:
And that’s it! Let me know in the comments below if you’ve used any of these products, or if you are a fan of 100% Pure Skin and Cosmetics!
